GM Dealers

The other day a friend of mine and I were looking for some GM dealers. I wanted to buy a new truck, and my friend wanted to buy a vehicle for his wife. That’s why we were looking for some GM dealers. I don’t know about you, but I love checking out a new set of GM dealers. Of course, GM dealers don’t come in sets, but that’s what my friend calls what we were doing.

And that was hitting GM dealer after GM dealer and seeing if we could talk them down in price further than the last place we visited. I know it sounds strange, because the opposite usually happens when you are visiting GM dealers.

You’ll get the GM dealer down to a particular price, and then when you visit the next of the General Motors dealers down the road, you generally have to start all over again. But my friend loves to negotiate, and he is always coming up with clever ways to make the best of our day long (and sometimes two and three day long) visits to these GM dealers all around our area.

Of course, sometimes this plan backfires, because the car lots don’t happen to have the specific car we are looking for, so they have to call their fellow GM dealers to see if they have it in stock. Then when we visit that particular GM dealer, they already kind of know we are coming.

But that’s pretty fun nonetheless. On this particular trip, I had seen a commercial for a GM truck on TV, and I was pretty interested in getting it. Of course, I didn’t really talk it over with my wife, which meant if I did buy a truck and surprise her with it, I’d better have a good reason, and enough money left over for her to buy something equally nice.

Which is why on that particular GM dealer excursion, I was kind of content to let my friend do his share of the looking, and ever choosing which of the GM dealers we were going to visit next.

Sometimes you get pretty lucky, and some of the General Motors dealerships will be giving away some kind of free food or something. All you need to do is take a test drive, and you get a free hot dog or something. One of the General Motors dealerships we went to were was giving out free nachos.

So when it comes to visiting GM dealers, I’m always up for it.
